Staff

Teaching positions require a minimum of a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential, but many of our teachers have associate degrees or higher in early childhood education or a related field.  All staff are trained in CPR, first aid, and daily health observations, and participate in a minimum of 24 hours of professional development each year. Each class has at least one teacher who is fluent in Spanish, and at least one teacher certified in medication administration. 

Young Creators- Four and Five Year Olds (15 children)

 

Ms. Yuri has a Career Studies Certificate in Early Childhood Development from NVCC. She has a Law degree from El Salvador, and is pursuing her AAS in Early Childhood Education at Northern Virginia Community College. Ms. Yuri is fluent in Spanish, and has been with the Children’s Center since 2017.

Ms. Lauren has over nine years of relevant experience. She has a BA in Interdisciplinary Studies with a concentration in Early Childhood from Virginia Commonwealth University. Ms. Lauren has been with the Children’s Center since 2016. 

Ms. Deborah has over thirty-five years of relevant experience. She has a AAS in Early Childhood Development from Northern Virginia Community College. Ms. Deborah has been with the Children’s Center since 2006.

Rainbow Room – Four and Five Year Olds (15 children)

 

Mr. Mark has over eight years of relevant experience. He has a BA in Sociology/Psychology from the University of Vermont and an MS in General and Special Education from Bank Street College. Mr. Mark has been with the Children’s Center since 2017. 

Ms. Mirna has over sixteen years of relevant experience. She has a certificate in Early Childhood Development from Northern Virginia Community College, and a BA Science and Humanities, from El Salvador C.A. She is currently pursuing her AAS in Early Childhood Development from Northern Virginia Community College. Ms. Mirna is fluent in Spanish, and has been with the Children’s Center since 2013.

 

Adventure Room- Three Year Olds (14 children)

Ms. Chris has over fourteen years of relevant experience. She has a AAS in Early Childhood Development from Northern Virginia Community College, and a Communications degree from Lima – Peru. Ms. Chris is fluent in Spanish, and has been with the Children’s Center since 2015.

 

Ms. Ivania has over twenty years of relevant experience. She has a Child Development Associate credential. Ms. Ivania is fluent in Spanish, and she has been with the Children’s Center since 2010.

Ms. Teresa has over twenty-two years of relevant experience, a Child Development Associate credential. She is fluent in Spanish, and has been with the Children’s Center since 2007.

Ms. Damaris, assistant teacher, part-time, holds a high school diploma and has one year of relevant experience. She is fluent in Spanish, and has been with the Children’s Center since 2020.  

Young Explorers- Three Year Olds (14 children)

Ms. Susy has over nineteen years of relevant experience, and a certificate in Early Childhood Development from Northern Virginia Community College.  She is fluent in Spanish, and has been with the Children’s Center since 2009.

Ms. Parvaneh has over twenty years of relevant experience. She has a Child Development Associate Credential and a BA in Educational Management and Planning from the Islamic Azad University. She is    Fluent in Farsi, and has been with the Children’s Center since 2017.

Discovery Room- Two Year Olds (10 children)

Ms. LaShawn has over twenty-two years of relevant experience, and a BA in Human Development from the University of the District of Columbia. She has been with the Children’s Center since 2020.

Ms. Bernarda has over twenty-two years of relevant experience, and a Child Development Associate credential. She is fluent in Spanish, has been with the Children’s Center since 1999.

Ms. Crystal has over eight years of relevant experience. She is pursuing her AAS degree in Early Childhood Development at Northern Virginia Community College. She has been with the Children’s Center since 2019.

Part-time Floaters

 

Ms. Julia has over forty years of relevant experience. She has been an Instructionl Assistant of Special Needs at FCPS for twelve years, and has been with the Children’s Center since 2016.

 

Office Manager

Ms. Luisa Hurtado has a Fairfax Futures training certificate. She is fluent in Spanish. Ms. Luisa has been with the Children’s Center since 2005.

Accountant

Ms. Elizabeth Erdahl has an MBA from Strayer University. She is fluent in Spanish. Ms. Elizebeth has been with the Children’s Center since 2016.

Development Director

 

Ms. Renee Boyle, CFRE, has a Certificate in Fundraising from New York University and a BA in Journalism from University of Wisconsin- Eau Claire. She has been with the Children’s Center since 2010.

Assistant Director

Ms. Megan has over thirteen years of experience in the Early childhood education field. She has a AAS in Early Childhood Development from Northern Virginia Community College, and she is currently pursuing a BA in Early Childhood Education at Walden University. She has been with the Children’s Center since 2017.

Executive Director

Ms. Lucy Pelletier has over nineteen years of experience in the early childhood education field. She has a BIS in Early Childhood Education Administration from George Mason University, and is pursuing her MA degree in Education Leadership at George Mason University. Ms. Lucy is fluent in Spanish and has been with the Children’s Center since 2005.
