Falls Church - McLean Children's Center

One of the Children’s Center’s most unique qualities is our commitment to nurturing each child’s development. Our low student-teacher ratios enable our well-trained and experienced teachers to work closely with each child to encourage and monitor emerging skills, and to identify developmental delays through periodic assessments.

The Children’s Center partners with other community specialists to provide the following early intervention services:

  • Dental, hearing and vision screening for 4- and 5-year-olds —
Fairfax County Health Department Dental Clinic and
Fairfax County Speech and Hearing Clinic, both at the Joseph Willard Health Center, Fairfax, VA
Prevention of Blindness Society of Metropolitan Washington, Washington, DC
  • Speech and language therapy —
Speech and Language Center of Northern Virginia, McLean, VA
  • Occupational therapy —
Mary L. Craver, MS., OTR/L, Pediatric Occupational Therapist
  • Psychological consultation, in English or Spanish
Elizabeth Lopez Lingeman, LPC, LMFT, LLC

For children with substantial delays, the Center works closely with the Special Education Services Providers in Fairfax County Public Schools and Falls Church City Public Schools to obtain  additional comprehensive evaluations and determine eligibility for services.  A Child Find Special Education teacher is assigned from Fairfax County Public Schools to work with the Children’s Center for a steady, continuum of service for our children. CHILD-FIND-brochure
