Luisa Hurtado is the Center’’s office manager, a position she’s held since 2005. She came to know the Center when her son Alex was a student here. Luisa is currently pursuing her associate’s degree from Northern Virginia Community College, and is also taking nightly English classes there. Originally from Bolivia and fluent in Spanish, Luisa and her family now live in Falls Church.
What is your favorite thing about working at the Center?
Everything. I really can’t pick just one. I love working with people, and I enjoy managing the day-to-day paperwork that keeps this place running smoothly. I find everything about my job here very rewarding.
What is special about the FCMLCC compared to other preschool programs?
The teachers and the staff who work here. This place is like my second home.
What is something special that you bring to the Center?
I am very organized, friendly and patient with people. I am also able to stay calm under pressure, which is a very important skill to have in this profession.
Why is early childhood education important?
It is what prepares the children to socialize with their peers. Socialization and learning how to respect others is one of the most important things they can learn as young children.
What is one of your favorite activities to obsesrve the children taking part in?
I love to watch them dancing and laughing.
