provides a comprehensive, high-quality early childhood program designed to give all young children, regardless of their family's economic resources, a strong foundation on which to build the rest of their lives.

The Falls Church-McLean Children's Center welcomes volunteers, ages 14-108. 
Please contact Sandra Blanco, assistant director, at 703/534-4907 to discuss your talents, interests and schedule, as well as screening requirements.


Volunteers are needed to:
  • Help with occasional weekend work days.
  • Do repairs and painting.
  • Do special cleaning jobs, such as washing toys.
  • Help in the classroom by reading stories, playing games, and providing one-on-one attention to a child.
  • Stay in classrooms during naptime (12:30-2:30) while teachers attend in-house training
  • Serve on the board of directors or a board committee.
  • Help with fundraising.
  • Take pictures of children.

 

Donate Things

  • Children's socks, long pants, and underwear (sizes 4-6x)
  • Gift Cards to grocery stores, office supply stores, and gas stations
  • Children's puzzles (8 - 100 pieces, no parts missing)
  • Picture books in English and Spanish for children ages three to five
  • Children's toothbrushes, toothpaste, Band-aids
  • Children's birthday napkins
  • Stationery, note pads, and all kinds of paper
  • Obsolete business stationery and envelopes, file folders
  • "Beautiful junk" items for creative art projects: empty thread spools, trim, buttons and sequins, bread bag closers, used postage stamps, and stickers.
