The Falls Church-McLean Children's Center welcomes volunteers, ages 14-108.
Please contact Sandra Blanco, assistant director, at 703/534-4907 to discuss your talents, interests and schedule, as well as screening requirements.
Volunteers are needed to:
- Help with occasional weekend work days.
- Do repairs and painting.
- Do special cleaning jobs, such as washing toys.
- Help in the classroom by reading stories, playing games, and providing one-on-one attention to a child.
- Stay in classrooms during naptime (12:30-2:30) while teachers attend in-house training
- Serve on the board of directors or a board committee.
- Help with fundraising.
- Take pictures of children.
Donate Things
- Children's socks, long pants, and underwear (sizes 4-6x)
- Gift Cards to grocery stores, office supply stores, and gas stations
- Children's puzzles (8 - 100 pieces, no parts missing)
- Picture books in English and Spanish for children ages three to five
- Children's toothbrushes, toothpaste, Band-aids
- Children's birthday napkins
- Stationery, note pads, and all kinds of paper
- Obsolete business stationery and envelopes, file folders
- "Beautiful junk" items for creative art projects: empty thread spools, trim, buttons and sequins, bread bag closers, used postage stamps, and stickers.
