Falls Church - McLean Children's Center

Runners and walkers of all ages, undeterred by the blistering temperatures, came from all across the metro area and beyond for the 5th Annual Teddy Bear 5K & 1K Walk/Run on Sunday, Sept. 24. Their all-out efforts helped the Children’s Center raise an estimated $30,000 for the early education program’s annual fund.

Fastest 5K adult runners were Beth Armitage, 26, of Vienna, with a time of 24:12 and Ben Apfelbaum, 40, of Falls Church, with a time of 21:12.  Fastest 5K runners under age 18 were Nick Foster, 14, of Falls Church, with a time of 24:55; and Emily Fisk, 16, of Arlington, with a time of 33:47.  Complete results are available at:  http://tinyurl.com/TeddyBear5KResults

A big Thank You to all Volunteers who made the events possible.  Students representing all area high schools — George Mason of Falls Church, McLean High School, George Marshall High School — showed up early to set up or faithfully fulfilled their duties in the afternoon. Many more volunteered through United Way, area churches or directly to the Children’s Center. You were each indispensable!
